Many GitOps practitioners will tell you to never use branches for your environments when designing your GitOps git repositories - which is an indirect way of saying: Don’t use Git flow. Instead, the GitOps ecosystem as a whole has adopted “trunk based development” for their GitOps repositories and has worked remarkably well. But can we go further? In this talk we will take a look at how we can take the next leap in our GitOps repository journey with the Rendered Manifests pattern. Rendered manifests takes the responsibility of Kustomize, Helm, or any other configuration management tool OUT of the hands of your GitOps controller and into your CI process. At the end of this talk users will understand how rendered manifests give you an immutable source of truth, helps you avoid drift during your CD process, and how it can have benefits to efficiency as well.
